The cleanliness of all our rooms is extremely important to us as is our commitment to enabling the environment with age appropriate toys, equipment and educational materials.
All children have a key person who will be responsible for making initial attachments with your child; recording their development, observing their interests and planning for their needs.
Throughout the nursery we offer each child an initial induction visits with parents, and any other adult involved in their care, plus further settling in sessions which are planned together and based on their individual needs and time constraints of parents and age of the children.
Throughout the nursery setting we promote a homely approach too caring for the children in our care. We understand the impact that the environment can have on children’s wellbeing; it is our aim to create a stimulating, clean, safe environment for all children to be able to explore and were staff can inspire and encourage all areas of learning through play.
Baby Room
At Atherton House we understand that a child’s first two years are critical for the development of the brain and for language development. During this period, the child’s life experience plays a fundamental role in the “hard-wiring” of the brain, laying the foundation for all intellectual and emotional development to follow.

Kindergarten
As the children move into Kindergarten we focus on developing their listening and attention skills, one of the ways that we do this is through reading our favourite stories this helps to grasp the children’s attention. We make our circle times interesting by concentrating on child based interests that can be supported by information provided by the parents either verbally or using photographs from the home environment.

Pre-School
In preschool we work in partnership with parents to ensure that their children are ready to begin their new adventure in Reception. We follow the ‘Road to School’ school readiness as well as the elements of the EYFS and Montessori. This helps us to ensure we develop the children’s independence skills as well as their self-confidence. The children are supported to take part in daily tasks such as self-registration, putting on their own.
